Week 12: Stuffed on Turkey

The Cowboys' star rookies might dress like ragamuffins,
but they look pretty good on the field!
Stally: Austen travelled to upstate New York this weekend to get loaded up on turkey, so we missed our traditional Thanksgiving Day post.  I've already had two turkey dinners myself, but am slowly waking up in enough time for some NFL football.

Here are my picks for the week in terms of confidence points, as Austen will spend the entire day driving along I-90 (or something like that) ... fun ...

16. New England over @New York Jets

Stally: This is the one game of the week that I really just can't find a way that the underdog wins.  I mean, even if Tom Brady, who is questionable, shockingly misses the game, I still go advantage Patriots.

15. New York Giants over @Cleveland

Stally: Every week I point out that the Browns are still winless, and every week they lose again by a sizable margin.  That won't change against a 7-3 Giants team exceeding expectations.

14. Seattle over @Tampa Bay

Stally: Seattle is hitting its stride, and that's bad news for anyone in its way.

13. @New Orleans over Los Angeles

Stally: This matchup will come down to Saints offense vs. Rams defense.  Unfortunately, I just don't think the Rams can keep Drew Brees and his offense off the board enough to make up for its disastrous offense.

12. @Atlanta over Arizona

Stally: This game is for the birds!  (Sorry, couldn't help it.)  As quickly as they arrived, the Cardinals have faded back into obscurity.  The Falcons are coming off a bye, at home, and looking to make a push for the division.

11. @Buffalo over Jacksonville

Stally: Remember when Austen and I thought the Jags would win the AFC South?  Well, it's not too late since the division is so horrible, but they're 2-8, so they'd need to win out.  That won't happen.  Buffalo wins this one easy.

10. Tennesse over @Chicago

Stally: The Bears weren't good to begin with and are more or less in hibernation at this point on offense.  They'll be without their starting QB, star WR, and starting TE.  The Titans are bumbling along, but very much in the division hunt in the AFC South.  That should be enough to win easily on the road.

9. @Dallas over Washington

Stally: Wow!  Dallas is good.  Washington is no slouch and this Thursday afternoon game never seemed to be in question despite a one-score final.

8. Pittsburgh over @Indianapolis

Stally: Without Andrew Luck at QB, the Colts didn't stack up to be much of a contender on Thursday ... they weren't.

7. @Oakland over Carolina

Stally: How real is Oakland and how far has Carolina fallen?  We're about to find out.  No Luke Kuechly for the Panthers pretty much spells doom on any hopes they had for a late season rally.

6. Kansas City over @Denver

Stally: The Chiefs are better than the Broncos.  Plain and simple.

5. @Baltimore over Cincinnati

Stally: The Bengals are still dangerous, but they're no longer considered "good."  This would be an upset if they could go on the road and beat the Ravens.  Without WR A.J. Green and RB Giovani Bernard, I just don't see enough on Andy Dalton's offense to pull that off.

4. @Philadelphia over Green Bay

Stally: It's time to write off the Packers.  This isn't the team we've had the pleasure of watching for the last decade.  They're not very good, and they're not going to go on the road and beat an Eagles team that is better than them.

3. San Diego over @Houston

Stally: This game is a toss up between two average-at-best teams.  I'm going to take the Chargers coming off a bye over a Houston team that played in a foreign country on Monday night (and lost).

2. @Detroit over Minnesota

Stally: This one could have been for the division on Thursday.  I considered it a coin flip and called it correctly in the air for the home team.

1. San Francisco over @Miami

Stally: This would be an upset of epic proportions, but I'm going with the 49ers.  The Dolphins tend to play to the level of their competition, and no matter how bad a team is, you just can't look past an opponent in the National Football League.
